There are some questions we’ll probably never have answered this side of heaven. Why isn’t the word "phonetic" spelled the way it sounds? Why are there interstate highways in Hawaii? Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? 

Yet, the story of those who believe in Jesus has key themes we can bank on, essential characteristics showing up in the lives of those who earnestly follow the Master. While there is much joy in being at rest within the great transcendent mystery of our Creator, there is no ambiguity, mystery or question mark about these themes. What are they? 

John’s gospel, in chapter 15, outlines three key themes of every Christian’s story: abiding, going and growing. Do these themes show up in your life and in your church? And if not, how can you get back on track with the journey?
